                                 The Moment Of Truth

In tennis, the point of contact between strings and ball is the moment of truth.

The point of contact between strings and ball is WHAT we are timing. RPM Tennis is about HOW to manage this moment of truth.

In that brief moment of contact, how the racket face is moving and where the racket face is projecting, determine where and how the shot flies.

As tennis players, our job, on each and every stroke, is to successfully manage each unique meeting between strings and ball. Negotiating the  variables we face on each unique shot means we need a flexible approach.

RPM Tennis calls these  adjustments and techniques for better timing the point of contact - Timing Tools.

RPM Tennis organizes our Timing Tools within three areas. They are Presence, Movement and The Margin Method.

Each shot we hit reflects, not only how our racket face was moving at the point of contact, but also our Movement. Then again, our Movement is dependent on our state of being, our Presence.

Without Presence and Movement, Method of stroke production breaks down. All three areas are essentially interconnected. Yet, in order to wrap our minds around a comprehensive approach to tennis, we start by dividing the various disciplines and techniques into these three groups.

In the end, all our various strokes share one thing in common: the point of contact. No matter which grip you use, no matter which side of the racket face contacts the ball, no matter who swings the racket - when strings meet ball, it is the moment of truth.

Each shot reflects how our racket face was moving at the POC. Learning to more accurately interpret this reflection becomes natural with an RPM Tennis perspective. Self-coaching in mid-match, even mid-point, should not sound so imposing.

When we consider that every single shot give us an immediate, visual report on the actions that produced the shot - not being able to read the report is more than just a missed opportunity. Such an inability makes tennis excessively mystifying and frustrating - ultimately spilling over into other areas of our game

The clear understanding that results from an RPM Tennis perspective empowers players and coaches to employee common-sense, cause and effect science. In this way, we become more effective at both building strokes and understanding the evidence contained in each error.

Using simple rules of thumb to adapt to the variety we face during match play emboldens us. The resulting confidence and consistency creates appropriate proportioning of control and aggression for each unique situation. Clarity and simplification follow.

So, welcome to a new view of tennis. Not just your tennis, but all tennis. These universally applicable tennis truths empower you to not only manage your own tennis more effectively, but to better understand all that you see on the court.

RPM Tennis, in conjunction with tawkitup.com, is working to produce real time, automated coaching tools for experiencing this information on the court.

The result will be guided, real-time drills and experiments. As this system evolves, it will become increasingly capable of offering you customized feedback. This will be possible because each time you answer a question, we will learn and remember more and more about your strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes. This empowers us to make suggestions appropriate to you as an individual.

Using a Bluetooth, hands-free phone, you can already experience two of RPM Tennis' revolutionary contributions to tennis through this equally revolutionary method of delivering information. Click on the Automated Coaching page to try a free beta test of our early stage demo.

Meanwhile, we are in discussions about the publishing of RPM-Tennis, Timing Is Everything. This book not only represents a fresh perspective on understanding tennis, it offers the reader deeper connections between managing our state of being on the court and off the court.

Exploring our potential on the court and off the court is just as interconnected as Presence, Movement and The Margin Method are connected when we are on the court. Potentially, through RPM Tennis, you might even gain general insight into what makes you tick.

It has been said that the gauge of a game's greatness is how accurately it reflects life's challenges.  Ultimately, RPM Tennis, Timing Is Everything hopes to shed some light on why our tennis-challenges mimic life's greater challenges, as well as how we might meet such challenges.
